The village of Dunajov is located on both banks of the Kysuca River at an altitude of 373 m at the border of Kysucké Beskydy and Javorníky mountains.

The village was established in the second half of the 16th century on the territory of the Budatín estate. The first written mention of Dunajov dates back to 1598 when there were only 7 houses.

As for tourism, there is an interesting cycling route leading from Oščadnica through Krásno nad Kysucou to Dunajov. The cycling route with a width of 2.5 m starts at the beginning of the Dunajov - next to the river which flows along the right side of the village.
