rozhladna petranky zakopcie 001The construction of the observation tower in Petránky - Marťakovský kopec was completed in September 2011. It is built from traditional materials - stone and wood.

The observation tower has become a landmark, allowing a panoramic 360-degree view at an altitude of 854 m above sea level. It is of great benefit to the village in promoting tourism and rural development as it shows stunning views of wide-open spaces. A hiking trail in the vicinity of the lookout tower is used for hiking and cycling in the summer and cross-country skiing in winter. The construction style of the tower is in line with the architecture of northern Slovakia, it thus fits into the surrounding environment.

If you intend to have a short walk to the lookout tower, you can choose the yellow signed path leading from Zákopčie, U Holých. Following the sign, you shall pass through the picturesque village of Blažková where you connect to the red marked path leading along the ridge of Javorníky to Petránky. The lookout tower above Petránky on the Marťák hill can be reached walking up the hill without any difficulties. A longer alternative to this route is a hike along the red marked trail directly from Čadca via Husárik, Chotárny hill, Blažková settlement to Petránky. A shorter alternative is the blue marked path from Zákopčie, Majer.

At the edge of the settlement Kratkovci you will ascend to the lookout point on the blue marked path through the settlement U Trnkov. You can reach the same point walking in the Rulcov valley. From the last bus stop at Rulcov, you shall take the road along the chapel towards Trnkov and follow the country lane to the chapel on Petránky.
