The hill Stratenec rising to a height of 1055 m above sea level is the westernmost peak of the Javorníky mountain range. It is located near the Slovakian-Czech border, on the cadastral boundary between the municipalities of Papradno and Makov.
A wooden tourist lookout tower at the top of Stratenec shows magnificent views of the Slovak and Czech (Moravian) sides. In the proximity of the observation tower, there is a monument built on honour of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the liberation fights during the WWII. The three decorated concrete crosses are intended to symbolize the death of three Czechoslovak soldiers.
