jasikThe commemorative room of the writer Rudolf Jašík is situated in the Cultural House in Turzovka together with a writer’s relief.

The commemorative room depicts the life of this famous writer, who was born on 2 December 1919 in Turzovka and died on 30 June 1960 in Bratislava.

His works depict the experience gained during his short life. In 1940 he started writing poetry and short stories and continued with a well known novel NA BREHU PRIEZRAČNEJ RIEKY (On the Bank of a Clear River), NÁMESTIE SV. ALŽBETY (Square of St. Elizabeth), MŔTVI NESPIEVAJÚ (Dead Soldiers Do not Sing). Since 1979 Jašíkove Kysuce, a literary contest as a tribute to Rudolf Jašík, is held every year. It is one of the biggest national literary contests for young writers.
