The memorial was built in 1975 and is situated in Makov, local part called “U Tabuli”. Josef Malejovský, an academic sculptor, is the author of the 4.7 metre high statue made of bronze and stone.
The memorial was built with the help of volunteers within the so-called “Z” project and it was unveiled during the 30th anniversary of the liberation of the republic. Finance for the construction was raised from several villages of Vsetínsko micro-region. The memorial commemorates the transfer of the 1st Czechoslovak guerrilla brigade of Ján Žižka from Slovakia to Morava together with a guerrilla group from Slovakia and a paratrooper group from the Soviet Union. The biggest armed collision with the Nazi invaders in the territory of the Czech Republic and Morava happed there on 25 September 1944. During the fight more than 400 Nazis were killed by the brigade and many weapons and much fuel was destroyed. The first commander of the 1st Czechoslovak guerrilla brigade of Ján Žižka, a Slovak lieutenant Ján Ušiak, was among the 200 killed brigade members.
