PalárikOnly a bust of Ján Palárik and a commemorative table are placed in the centre of village Raková, on the place where the original childhood house of Ján Palárik used to stand. The commemorative room of Ján Palárik is situated in the cultural house in Raková.

Ján Palárik was born to the poor family of a teacher on 27 April 1822 and died on 7 December 1870 in Majcich, where he was buried and where people can visit his commemorative room. He was a catholic priest, national awakener, playwright and author of several Slovak textbooks. His best known drama works include for example DROTÁR (Tinker) or DOBRODRUŽSTVO PRI OBŽINKOCH (An Adventure During the Harvest Festival). As a tribute to this man, the village organizes “Palárikova Raková” (Palárik’s Raková), an annual national contest of amateur drama ensembles that perform original Slovak drama works. 2013 was the 46th year the event was held.
