svrcinovecThe village with more than 400 years of history is to be found in the upper part of the Kysuce Region, close to the town of Čadca, and the villages of Čierne and Mosty u Jablunkova (CZ).

When considering tourism, the settlements reminding of the rural character of colonization are especially interesting. The part of Závršie - "old village" with its chapel of Our Mother of Seven Sorrows is an attractive place, as the chapel grew out of the former school where the writer, national artist Peter Jilemnický, worked as a teacher.

The village of Svrčinovec interferes with the area of numerous ramparts - an important historical site- the so-called Alte Schantze (Staré Šance) at the top of the elevation of 634 m near the "Jablunkov šance” in the Czech Republic. Jablunkov šance, Staré šance, Malé šance in Čierne together with Val, Šance in Koniaków (PL) and Bukovec (ČR) formed a joint fortification system serving to defend the Jablunkov slip. The fortification system was under construction continuously from 1578.

As for cultural attractions, these are represented by the parish church of Our Lady of the Rosary, a stone building built above the village.

Svrčinovec is the birthplace of academic painter František Jurišta.
The residents and visitors of Svrčinovec can benefit from well-maintained cross-country skiing trails in winter and hiking and cycling trails passing through the village in summer.
