The oldest cross in Vysoká nad Kysucou, and probably the oldest in the entire Kysuce region. It is a fairly simple cross on two stone pedestals, which are very skillfully crafted. The lower pedestal has two inscriptions engraved on it – the year of construction (1760) and the year of a later, probably the first, renovation.

Description: The oldest cross in Vysoká nad Kysucou, and probably the oldest in the entire Kysuce region. It is a fairly simple cross on two stone pedestals, which are very skillfully crafted. The lower pedestal has two inscriptions engraved on it – the year of construction (1760) and the year of a later, probably the first, renovation (RENOVATA PER G et A ..... 1794). Interestingly, the year of construction is placed lower, while the later inscription is higher, despite being definitely engraved later. Between the inscriptions is a kind of cartouche, but due to weathering, it is no longer possible to determine if there was any text or if it was empty. The upper pedestal, shaped like a slightly narrowing block, features a relief of a saint on each side. The front shows the figure of the Virgin Mary, the left side has a relief of St. John of Nepomuk, the right side depicts either St. George or St. Michael, and the back shows one of the bishops. The simple cross itself is placed on this second pedestal. It has no decorations. The corpus seems to be made of wood, with the body of Jesus depicted in natural colors, brown hair and beard, and the loincloth around his waist appearing to be blue, possibly originally polychrome. The crown of thorns is also depicted. Above the crossbeam is a white plaque with a black, now quite faded, inscription reading INRI. The lower pedestal has what seem to be two supportive pillars on the sides, which were probably added later.
Surroundings: The cross is located in the Vrchrieka area on the cadastral boundary of Vysoká nad Kysucou and Veľké Rovné, to the right of the road heading from the center through Vrchrieka. A tourist signpost is set up right next to it. The cross stands under two old lime trees, one of which is completely hollow. Sometime in the second half of the 20th century, the cross was enclosed by a metal fence with a gate at the front. The metal fence is painted green.
