mur historie 004The Wall of History, a unique project aimed at saving the historical heritage and architecture of the Kysuce Region, is one of the most visited places in the village of Korňa. The Municipality of Korňa, in cooperation with the Kysuce Tourism Organization, joined their potential to meet the aim of saving the historical heritage and architecture of the Kysuce Region and to create attractive places for those coming to Kysuce.

The main goal of the project consists in preserving wooden and stone buildings that cannot be saved because they have rotted roofs, trusses and walls. Such buildings abound in the Region of Kysuce and in our village. However, coming to an agreement with the owners on the donations is not always easy as ownership relations are unsettled.

The Wall of History can be found in the village centre next to the turn to the pilgrimage site Živčáková which is well known as a frequent destination of pilgrims from all over Europe. When visiting the pilgrimage site of Živčáková, be sure not to miss this unique point of the village, where you will find several nice photo spots making a fine background for your photos. The Wall of History is also a display of black-and-white photos from 1986 with the pictures of wooden houses from various settlements of the Korňa Municipality. The photos are an authentic picture of the local architecture and the real hard life of the villagers. The same idea is conveyed by the exhibition of tools that people used to work on fields in the past Be sure to have a stop by this unique work and get to know the life of your grandparents and great-grandparents.

The project is implemented with the financial participation of the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic.
