Though Drahošanka is not the highest located settlement of Čadca, it is quite demanding to get there. If you decide to walk from the railway station or from Bukov, it will take you at least an hour and it will be a bit tough. If you prefer any transport, you can use a car or a special bus line running regularly from the elementary school on Hlinková street to the settlement.

There is a third option to choose: take the public bus transport to Čadečka - the settlement U Kliešťa where you will start a steep but much shorter ascent to the top of the hill.

Lourdes Chapel

This route is the most interesting one. Before you reach the first houses of the settlement, you will be charmed by an unusual building - the Lourdes Chapel. It consists of a fenced space with a wall on the slope, made of stone blocks up to a height of three to four meters. Inside the Chapel, there is the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes.

An inscription on one of the tables on the wall announces: Built in 1943 to the greater honour of the Immaculate Conception in return for the answered prayer. There are more similar tables on the wall. Next to the Chapel, there is a source of spring water, beautifully decorated and refreshing any passer-by.

The settlement can be easily reached by car from the town centre in the direction to Podzávoz, after crossing the bridge under the highway, turn right. However, we recommend another solution. Behind the bus station, there is a bridge over the train line and an underpass that takes you to the area U Ševca. From there, it is a nice walk (or bike ride) to the hills above Čadca - through the villages of Najdkovci, Liškovci and up to Drahošanka.

If you are on a mountain bike, you might possibly continue from the settlement along the green marked cycling route 5402 towards Oščadnica, or return to the centre of Čadca via Bukov or Čadečka (a shorter or longer route through the settlement U Králi).
