korna slezakovci osadaIf you wish to admire the graceful architecture of wooden houses together with the most beautiful view of the Beskydy Mountains, you are recommend to pop in the village of Slezákovci, one of the highest placed villages of the Korňa municipality.

It is the highest peak of Korňa called Beskyd (879 m above sea level) that towers rights above this settlement and that offers allegedly the most spectacular view of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy. With good visibility, it is possible to see both the High and Low Tatras. A red marked tourist path leads directly on the top of the Beskyd peak, thus copying the border ridge between the Czech Republic and Slovakia heading from Makov Bumbálka through Korňa, Biely Kríž, Veľký Polom to Kamenná chata, where it returns to the Czech Republic.

I recommend walking or cycling at least a part of the ridge from the Beskydy to the settlement U Staníka. The trail is not difficult, but the views are simply breath-taking. The village of Slezákovci itself is accessible by car in the summer on a paved road about 4 km from Korňa - the old school. Winter is a bit specific here. It is not an exception that during fine winters there is a snow cover exceeding 2 m. A few times it happened that cleaning the road by a tractor took three days.
