osada kukolanka rakovaThe settlement of Kukoľanka in the local part of Korcháň, located on the red marked tourist path, can be proud of a new bell tower built in 2013. The bell in the tower dates to the period from after the First World War.

osada kukolanka rakova2An interesting story is connected to the bell: When Jozef Kavulák returned home to Kukoľanka from the battlefield of the WWI in 1924, people could not believe their eyes.
It was in l914, when the First World War began, that he was got the calling-in order to the Russian front. The war ended in 1918, but he was nowhere to be found. His family had mourned his death, but in 1924 he returned to his own people, to a settlement opposite Veľký Polom...

The Bell called "St. Joseph" is about half a meter high and has the inscription around the perimeter: "St. Joseph, pray for us. 1924.” The bell was probably cast in a Czech blacksmith workshop.

The grandsons of Jozef Kavulák built a belfry for the bell - first a simple wooden one functioning until 2012 and then within a year they constructed a new one, made of bricks, about 5 meters high.
