The local part of Turzovka called Turkov spreads out in the Javorníky highlands south of the Kysuca river valley.
As implied by the name itself, we can assume how much respect the local people had for the Turkish incursions which were tormenting the entire territory of Hungary for many decades, and even their northernmost regions could not feel safe. (At the end of the day, one of the most valuable historical monuments of Kysuce - defensive ramparts - were built by the Kingdom of Silesia on the territory of Silesia and on the territory of present day Kysuce in order to prevent the incursion of the Turkish danger into their territories.)
The local church of Our Lady of Fatima built in the 20th century enjoys great respect and attendance.
