u sulcov osada kornaAn old windmill - an unusual technical attraction considered to be the unique of Kysuse is standing in the settlement U Šulcov. The spot is in the difficult-to-access terrain approximately 3.5 km from the village centre.

The windmill was used to grind grain until 1985. The question is, where the Kysuce windmill came from. Its owner, the ancestor of Jozef Gajdičiar from Korňa, brought the equipment from Ostrava in 1958, when he was working there as a miner. The wind turbine was spinning in the direction of the wind that was propelling the propeller blades. The best grinding was done with the help of the north wind. The neighbouring Moravia, where the Korňa windmill came from, has preserved a few windmills of this kind. On the contrary, the Korňa windmill, which many tourists have given the epithet "one of the seven wonders of the village”, is rather an exceptional construction.

A similar one can only be found in the open-air museum in Svidník, where it was brought from Poland. The old windmill is no longer functional, but it still stands in the wonderful natural environment of a highland hamlet. A replica of this technical monument to remind you of the old way of life can be seen next to the main road in Nižná Korňa. Access: when you come at the sports hall, turn to the village of Barčákovci, the path from there the leads to the settlement of U Šulcov.
