In the past, the terminal station of the Čadca-Serafínov railway line was located here. The village used to be an attractive trip destination due to a well-known skiing centre, or a holiday centre intended for railway workers, which was later transformed to a sanatorium for children with various health disorders. The history of the building dates to the interwar period, which means the mountain environment of Serafínov has always been considered as beneficial to health.

This is one the oldest cottages in Serafínov that has witnessed the history and life of our ancestors living in Serafínov. After 1989, the Skalité-Zvardoň railway and road connection was built, and two separate European states - Slovakia and Poland - were interconnected through Serafínov. Skalité Serafínov is an acknowledged road and border crossing to Poland.

As a high perched area with sufficient infrastructure, Serafínov is suitable for hiking, cycling or just visiting a few compelling places such as the remains of bunkers build during the WWII. The bunkers are an ample testimony of the strategic importance of this area in history. These days, a new Way of the Cross has been open on the way from Serafínov to Zwardoň in Poland.
