u jarosov olesnaThe settlement Na Dolines is located in the second separate part of Olešná village called Burkov Hill.

It is set into a picturesque valley on the south side below the highest peak in the village, Burkov Hill (1032 m above sea level). In the west, it is adjacent to the hamlets of the village of Klokočov. The settlement is surrounded by dense spruce forests, which are mostly in private ownership of the residents of Olešná.

There are still many original wooden houses and farm buildings made of stone and wood in the settlement. Descendants of former settlers have adapted some of them for temporary living. The most remarkable of all is a stylish wooden pub built on high stone cellars and owned by the local native Ondrej Jurga. The building was erected between the two world wars and served its guests even after 1948. It always kept its lively atmosphere, mainly in the period between the World Wars when it used to welcome forest workers coming to have lunch there.

During weekends and holidays, dance parties and weddings were held in the pub. During World War 2, this inn witnessed many happy ending stories. As it was standing right in the heart of the mountains, close to the former protectorate state border, it was usually visited by German soldiers during the day and resistance fighters and partisans during the night. Only thanks to the prudence of the innkeeper Jurga, all was running smoothly without any life-threatening events. The building has been closed for a long time.

The settlement U Jarošov is located south below the settlement Na Doline. As well as the previous one, this settlement is also inhabited by residents who repaired and adapted their parents' old houses. The municipality built an asphalt road enabling access from the main road. Some of the residents are engaged in farming on the lands of their grandparents.

What makes this settlement even more special is the fact that it was the birthplace of a RAF aviator Štefan Jaroš (1919-1944), captain of Royal Air Force, GB acting in the army as a radio operator and gunner. He served in the RAF armed forces since 1940, at the end of 1944 he tragically died as a member of the Liberator bomber crew during an anti-submarine patrol flight over the sea in an aerial battle with a German. These days, there are only remains of the stone foundations of his native house with a cottage standing on the spot.
